      Photos

The shots buyers look for, in order. Nail these and your listing looks the part. Include every shot: more photos means more buyer trust and a faster sale.

      Video

Two minutes of video does more for trust than any ten photos.

      The seller's playbook

Free, and worth reading before your first message comes in. How to sell safely, and how to beat the tactics buyers use to talk you down.

      Do

      • Post real, well-lit photos of the actual car, including the odometer, VIN plate, tires, engine bay, and any flaws.
      • Share the VIN openly so a buyer can run their own history check. It is the fastest way to look legit.
      • Price against real market comps, not hope. A fair, stated number gets more serious offers than "message me."
      • Name the small flaws yourself. Disclosing a door ding makes a buyer trust everything else you wrote.
      • Keep the whole deal on the platform, and meet in a public, well-lit place or a police safe-exchange zone.
      • Only take cash you verify or a bank transfer you both confirm in person. Wait for your own bank to say it has fully cleared before you hand over keys or title.

      Don't

      • Accept a check or money order for more than your price, or agree to "refund the difference." That is the overpayment scam.
      • Ship the car or deal through a buyer's "shipping company" or "agent" you cannot meet.
      • Release the car or sign the title before payment has fully and permanently cleared your bank.
      • Move to email, WhatsApp, or a buyer-picked "escrow" site. Those exist to get around the platform's protections.
      • Hide a branded title, a lien, or a known issue. It surfaces at the meetup and kills the deal for less than disclosing it would have cost.

      Beat the negotiation tactics

The five plays buyers run to shave your price, and how to hold your ground on each.

      The lowball anchor

An offer thousands under asking, dropped early to reset your expectations.

Do not counter off their number. Restate your price and one reason it holds (records, recent work, comps). Anchor back to the market, not to their opening shot.

      "Cash today" pressure

"I will take it right now, cash, if you knock off $2,000 and meet me in an hour."

Urgency is the discount they are buying. A real cash buyer still waits a day. Say the price is firm today and you are fine waiting for the right buyer.

      Nitpick-for-discount

Listing every tiny flaw at the meetup to justify a last-second price drop.

You already disclosed the flaws in the ad, so they are priced in. Point back to the honest description and hold. Real issues you missed are fair game; manufactured ones are not.

      The phantom mechanic

"My mechanic says it needs $3,000 of work," with no inspection report.

Ask to see the written estimate. Offer to meet a mobile mechanic together. A number with no paper behind it is a prop, not a fact.

      The deposit flip

A buyer who wants to send a deposit to "hold it" before seeing it, then controls the deal.

No deposits before an in-person meet. Sell to the first person who shows up with cleared funds. First to pay, not first to promise.

      FAQ

Is grading my listing really free?
Yes. The listing grade, the recommendations, the photo and video guide, and the full seller playbook are free, with no account. The one-time $19.99 Seller Pass unlocks the Copilot that writes your description, the market price, the CarBluff-Verified badge, and the buyer-message advisor for one listing.
      What is the CarBluff-Verified badge?
It is a badge and a shareable trust page showing that your listing passed CarBluff's completeness and trust checks. Because buyers already use CarBluff to catch scam listings, a listing that shows it passed looks legit at a glance, which means fewer nervous questions and a faster sale. It is not an inspection or a guarantee about the car.
How is the recommended price calculated?
From real comparable used-car listings for your exact year, make, model, and mileage, the same market data behind CarBluff's buyer-side Deal Score, framed to help you list at a number that sells fast.
      Do I need an account?
Only for the paid Seller Pass, so your verified badge is tied to your account and stays yours. The free grade and description need no account. Sign-in is passwordless: we email you a code.
